Richard Bullen
CEO, Capital Risk Solutions
Richard joined AXIS in April 2002 as a Senior Vice President for the insurance operations. He was promoted to the Division President in 2005, and then late 2006, he was named CEO of the Capital Risk Solutions Division of AXIS Insurance. Richard has a degree in economics and economic history and a masters in international banking and finance. Richard worked for Charman Underwriting agencies from 1996 until the agency was acquired by Ace Limited, where he had specific responsibilities for Political Risk, Terrorism and War business. m

Rory MacGregor
Executive Vice President, Terrorism
After graduating with a BSc (Hons) from the London School of Economics in 1996, Rory joined the M F Newton (later Cox) Syndicate in Lloyd's. During his time in Lloyd's, he underwrote a Property-based book, including some Onshore Energy and Terrorism risks. Rory joined AXIS in January 2002 to work on multiple lines - first for AXIS Europe in London and Dublin and then moving to AXIS Specialty Limited in Bermuda in October 2003. His principal responsibility is underwriting and managing AXIS' Global Terrorism book.

Michael Rutherford
President, Capital Risk Solutions Division
Michael qualified as a barrister in 1980 and joined the Sedgwick Group as an insurance broker the same year. He ran Sedgwick’s political risk department for a number of years before moving to Marsh & McLennan in 1996 to head up their political risk department in London. In 2003 he was appointed Marsh’s worldwide placement leader for political risks. Michael joined Axis Insurance in March 2005 as the political risk product line manager for our London office.

Richard Carter
Vice President, Capital Risks
Richard has over 16 years experience working in insurance and other financial services at major financial institutions, both in the UK and other European financial centres. After qualifying as a chartered accountant with Ernst and Young, he worked in a variety of auditing, financial, operational, underwriting and managerial roles. Firstly at Ernst and Young, then at American International Group and DeutscheBank, before subsequently joining AXIS at the beginning of 2005.

Penny Walker
Vice President, Capital Risks
Penny Walker joined AXIS in June 2007 from Catlin where she had been a Class Underwriter since 2005. Previously she had been a Political Risk broker at Sedgwick, moving to Marsh Global Broking in 1995. Penny has a BA (Hons) degree in European Studies in Finance and Accounting.

Alex Heywood
Assistant Vice President, Terrorism
After graduating with a BSc (Hons) Economics degree from Birmingham University, Alex joined the Hiscox Syndicate in Lloyd’s. During his time in Lloyd’s, Alex wrote both Bloodstock and Terrorism before spending the last year in New York where he successfully helped set up their U.S. based Terrorism team. Alex also completed his ACII. He joined AXIS in June 2007.

Jim Parker
Assistant Vice President, Capital Risks
After attaining an MA in International Relations, Jim joined Marsh Credit and Political Risks in 2000. During this period, he undertook several roles encompassing both retailing and the placing of credit and political risk insurance on behalf of a variety of clients. These clients varied from mid-cap corporates to global financial institutions. Jim has been with AXIS on the Political Risk team since November 2006.

Terry Wood
Senior Vice President, Aviation
Terry has over 20 years of underwriting experience having begun his career at Syndicate 488 / 2488 J.R.Charman in 1986. He moved to ACE Global markets and then to AXIS in 2002. Over his career, Terry has specialized in the Aerospace classes but he has underwritten business as diverse as Satellite, Cargo, Specie, Pre launch, Aviation, Aviation War and Contingency.
In addition, Terry services virtually all the specialty classes written within AXIS Insurance Capital Risk Solutions Division.

Michael Silas
Vice President, Capital Risks
Michael joined AXIS in July 2007 after 13 years working for the insurance broker Willis in the US, UK, Europe and Asia. For 8 years, before coming to AXIS, he was part of Willis’ Political & Credit Risk Team, focused on investment and commercial banking clients. Michael holds a BA in History from Princeton University.

Tsehay previously worked at the Bank of Bermuda, moving to AXIS in 2003. Tsehay is a Senior Underwriting assistant, specializing on the political risks and property accounts.

Nick Flynn
Vice President, Capital Risks
Nick joined AXIS in December 2003 and moved to the Political Risks team in January of 2006. Nick was previously at Marsh Global Markets where he served as an Account Manager in the International Property Division. He started his career as an Underwriting Assistant for the Cox Syndicate in 1998. Nick earned his degree in Modern Languages (French & Italian) from Oxford University.
