Joe joined AXIS in 2004 to establish our Marine Cargo, Fine Art & Specie business and was promoted to Underwriter and Manager for all of our Marine business classes in 2006, comprising Marine Liability, Marine Hull, Marine War, and Recreational Marine. He commenced his insurance career with the FLP Secretan Syndicate at Lloyd's in 1989 and joined CIGNA Europe in 1990. Joe was appointed Cargo and Specie Underwriter for CIGNA's (including INA) London Market underwriting in 1996. Following the acquisition of CIGNA's P&C business by ACE Limited in 1999, he joined ACE Global Markets (AGM) Syndicate 2488 at Lloyd's and was appointed Head of Marine Cargo, Fine Art & Specie Underwriting for the Syndicate in 2000. Prior to joining AXIS, Joe was responsible for ACE's Marine Cargo and Specie underwriting in the London Market (via AGM Syndicate at Lloyd's and ACE-INA insurance company), the retail Marine operations of ACE Europe (UK and Ireland), Transportation Risk Management, and Specie Underwriting for ACE International. Joe is currently based in Dublin which is the Head Office location of AXIS Specialty Europe Ltd.

Paul joined AXIS in January 2010 as Senior Vice President for our Marine Cargo business having spent 26 years as a broker in the London insurance market. Paul joined Sedgwick North America Property in 1984 and spent 4 years working on North American Fortune 500 Property and Energy business before transferring to Price Forbes in 1987 where he developed North American Cargo and Stock Throughput business and was promoted to run the Marine Cargo broking team for Sedgwick. In 1993, Paul joined Johnson & Higgins to develop and run their Cargo business through a period of rapid growth, producing business from North and South America. Following the acquisition of Johnson & Higgins by Marsh in 1997, Paul assisted in running the expanded Marsh Cargo team before transferring to Marsh Global Broking in 2001 to run the Middle Market Property and Casualty Team. In 2006, he joined Arthur J. Gallagher Marine to establish and run a new Cargo business for them in London.

Mark joined AXIS in January 2012 as Senior Vice President for our Specie and Fine Art business bringing with him 22 years of London insurance market experience. Mark started his career in 1989 as a Marine Cargo broker for Price Forbes (part of Sedgwick) handling Cargo Stock Throughput business and all other areas of General Cargo and Specie. In 1995, he was seconded to Sedgwick Chile (Andueza y Cia) for two years where he gained valuable experience in retail broking and the production of Cargo and other Marine business including Marine Hull and Marine Liability. In 1998 Sedgwick was acquired by Marsh & McLennan and Mark joined the Specie and Fine Art division of Marsh FINPRO, involved in all lines of Specie and Fine Art with a particular focus on major Financial Institutions, Cash Logistics and Precious Metals, and was latterly responsible for running the Marsh Specie broking team. In 2008, Mark joined Price Forbes & Partners to establish and run a new Specie and Fine Art practice within their Marine Cargo Division and rapidly built a substantial and well recognised Specie business.

Daniel Walsh joined AXIS in April 2002 as an Underwriter, located in our Dublin office. Through our Dublin office we write many of our specialty classes of business including Property, Onshore and Offshore Energy, Marine, Aviation, Political Risk including Terrorism, and Professional Lines classes of business. Daniel is CII qualified and has over 17 years experience in the insurance market. He began his career with the Generali in 1994, and then moved to ACE in 1999 where he worked until coming to AXIS.

Ian joined AXIS in March 2005 as an Underwriting Assistant in our Dublin office. He graduated from the University of Limerick in June 2004 with an Honours degree in International Insurance and European Studies. Ian relocated to our London operation in 2007 and was promoted to Underwriter in 2011. He has cross-class Marine Underwriting discipline with an emphasis on Marine Cargo and Marine Liability.
