Has this development had an impact on traditional vehicular racing?

Absolutely. The rise of manned drone racing has somewhat sped up the arrival of flying cars. eVTOL (electric vertical take off and landing) is a type of aircraft that uses electric power to hover, take off and land vertically. These vehicles look to be the future of racing. A motorsport series for electric flying vehicles, Airspeeder, has already been proposed which could completely change the game.

What does this mean for insurance cover?

The challenge for the A&H insurance industry will be that this will lead to a combination of motorsports insurance with aviation insurance. At AXIS, we are prepared to cover the motorsports industry including the future aviation risk associated with flying car racing.
