CEO, AXIS Reinsurance
Steve Arora joined AXIS in January 2018 as CEO of AXIS Re. Mr. Arora came to AXIS from Swiss Re where he spent 18 years in a variety of senior positions, including Head of Casualty Reinsurance and as a member of the Reinsurance Executive Committee. He has extensive global experience, holding positions in New York, Munich, London, Tokyo and Zurich, and his expertise crosses Sales, Underwriting, Product Management, Finance, and Risk Management. Currently, Mr. Arora leads a 250 person organization that spans the Company's global network of offices. He has been recognized as a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum and his Executive Education includes Stanford University, Oxford University, and management training programs and Swiss Re and GE Capital.
President, North America
Jason Busti joined AXIS Re in August 2019 as President of North America. In his role, Jason is a member of the Reinsurance Leadership team and oversees AXIS Re’s North America treaty reinsurance business, which includes the United States and Canadian Markets. In addition, Jason is responsible for Axis Re’s Global Partners Unit, which focuses on partner relationships and the client franchise. Prior to joining AXIS Re, Jason spent 22 years at Swiss Re in a variety of roles from underwriting to sales management. Most recently, he was Managing Director and Client Executive, with responsibility for the company’s U.S. Global business.
Jon Gray first joined AXIS through the Novae acquisition in 2017 as Head of Property Re, before being promoted as Head of Lloyd’s Reinsurance in 2020. Jon’s career spans more than 30 years’ within the Lloyd’s market, primarily focused on Property and Specialty lines. Prior to joining AXIS, he spent more than 20 years at Novae, where he was most recently Unit Head for Property Re. In a voluntary capacity, Jon is Chairman of Kimbolton School’s Board of Governors, and is also publicly elected to serve on Huntingdonshire District Council.
President, Global Property
Ann Haugh is currently President of Global Property at AXIS Re. Ann began her career in the U.S. market over 28 years ago as a Management Liability Underwriter and has subsequently held numerous senior executive positions spanning underwriting, distribution, operations and strategy at Zurich Insurance, Arch Insurance, Aspen Insurance and Thomas Miller in the US, London and Zurich. Throughout her career Ann has been passionate about developing the next generation of talent by building underwriter training programmes and leading sponsorship and mentoring initiatives. She is equally committed to supporting company and industry D&I initiatives and has recently become an Advisory Board member of Insider Progress. She was a past recipient of the Business Insurance Woman to Watch award and is a member of the APIW (Association of Professional Insurance Women), the ISC (Insurance Supper Club) and the CII.
Andy Hottinger is President International at AXIS Re. Based out of the company's Zurich office, Andy joined AXIS in 2008 as an Engineering Underwriter. He has held a number of underwriting managerial roles within AXIS Re, most recently serving as Head of Property EMEA and, prior to that, Head of Engineering and Property Risk. Prior to AXIS, Andy was an Engineering Underwriter at Scor and Converium. He began his career as a mechanical engineer.
Chief Pricing Actuary
Mark Julian joined AXIS Re in April 2020 as Chief Pricing Actuary. Previously, he spent 10 years in senior actuarial and risk management roles at Tokio Millennium Re. Most recently, he was CEO and Head of Branch at Tokio Millennium Re UK, where he was responsible for the UK reinsurance business. Prior to this, he served as Group Head of Pricing for Tokio Millennium Re, leading a global team of 45 Pricing Actuaries and Catastrophe Modelers. In this role, he implemented a group-wide consistent pricing governance process, putting in place optimal pricing peer review, pricing documentation, subject matter expert strategy and local pricing lead strategy. Mr. Julian also formerly served as UK Chief Actuary and Chief Risk Officer for Tokio Millennium Re. Prior to that, he was Deputy Group Actuary at SVB/Novae. Mr. Julian began his P&C insurance career at Equitas where he carried out reserving and commutation evaluations and negotiations, before moving on to PwC as a Senior Actuarial Consultant.
Robert J. Looney
Chief Financial Officer & Chief Operating Officer
Rob Looney was appointed Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of AXIS Re in November 2011, after serving as Global Finance Director for AXIS from 2010. For the 12 years preceding his employment at AXIS, Rob led the insurance investment banking efforts at KeyBanc Capital Markets and Advest Inc., where he gained extensive experience in capital raising and merger & acquisition transactions. Earlier in his career, Rob was a senior manager in the Business Assurance Group at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, where he managed the audits of several large, publicly traded, multinational reinsurance and insurance companies.
Lead HR Business Partner, AXIS Re
Amanda Seidler first joined AXIS in 2017 as the Global Head of Talent Management. She also serves as the AXIS Re Lead HR Business Partner, responsible for leading talent development, recruitment, employee engagement, and cultural initiatives. Prior to joining AXIS, she held talent roles in the banking industry and served in a principal consultant position for 15 years at a boutique HR consulting and technology focused on building people and culture for companies in the financial services and technology sectors. She holds a PhD as an Industrial Organizational Psychologist and is the proud mother of twin boys.
Katie Partington Howarth
Chief Underwriting Officer
Katie joins AXIS Re with 20 years of experience in the (re)insurance industry. Most recently she was Group Head of Ceded Reinsurance at Argo, responsible for strategy and implementation of the company’s treaty reinsurance and retrocessional purchases worldwide. Prior to that, she was Head of Underwriting Risk for Ariel Re, having served in a succession of senior roles at the company since its formation in 2005. Katie joined Ariel Re from Benfield Ltd., where she spent four years as a catastrophe risk analyst and broker. She began her reinsurance career at E.W. Blanch in London.
