Vincent C. Tizzio
AXIS President and CEO
Vincent C. Tizzio is President and CEO of AXIS Capital.
Mr. Tizzio has a proven track record as a business leader at both large global and mid-size insurance carriers, with a deep and expansive understanding of the specialty space, and an ability to grow strong organizational cultures.
At AXIS, Mr. Tizzio has led the Company to consistently deliver record premium growth for its specialty insurance business; implemented the repositioning of AXIS Re as a specialist reinsurer; expanded its offerings specifically designed for small-to-mid-sized businesses; launched efforts to grow AXIS’ digital capabilities; and further scaled its global platform.
Prior to joining AXIS, Mr. Tizzio served as EVP and Head of Global Specialty at The Hartford where he led a multi-billion dollar business focused on delivering a broad array of specialty products through wholesale and retail channels. Previously, he had served for 7 years as President and CEO of Navigators Management Company, leading the organization until its acquisition by The Hartford in 2019. Prior to that, Mr. Tizzio worked at Zurich Financial Services and AIG, serving in progressive senior leadership roles within both companies.
Mr. Tizzio received a B.A. degree in finance and sociology from Adelphi University. He serves on the boards of the Maguire Academy of Risk Management at Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, the Maurice R. Greenberg School of Risk Management at St. John’s University in New York, and the Association for Bermuda Insurers and Reinsurers (ABIR).
He is on the boards of the Monmouth Medical Center, the Visiting Nurse Association, Embrace Partners, and the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health. Mr. Tizzio is also a longstanding board member of the Freedom House, an organization committed to helping people with addiction, and a founder of Feed Belly Farm, which helps to provide food to people in need.
Mark Gregory
Head of Global Markets
Mark Gregory is Head of Global Markets for the Company’s Specialty Insurance business. Prior to that and since joining Axis in 2010, Mr. Gregory served as Chief Executive Officer for AXIS Insurance's International Division, responsible for all Insurance activities in London, Brussels and Singapore. In 2017, Mr. Gregory led the launch of AXIS Managing Agency Limited as its CEO. This firm manages all the activities of AXIS Syndicate 1686 at Lloyd's of London. Following the acquisition of Novae in the same year, he oversaw the successful union of the AXIS and Novae as CEO of the newly merged business. Prior to joining AXIS, Mr. Gregory spent 15 years at Marsh where he was CEO of Marsh Global Markets International (2004) and was the Founding CEO of Bowring Marsh (2008). He was an Executive Director on the Board of Marsh U.K. Limited. He served on the Board of the International Underwriters Association (IUA) between 2015 and 2019 and currently serves on the Board of the Lloyd’s Market Association (LMA). He began his career in 1980 as a broker.
Mike McKenna
Head of North America
Michael McKenna is Head of North America at AXIS where he oversees underwriting and business growth strategies for the North America Wholesale and Retail businesses. Prior to joining AXIS, Michael was the Chief Underwriting Officer for Falvey Insurance Group where his role was focused in profitable growth of the existing product suite for their carrier partners, expansion of the existing specialty product offering, as well as executive responsibility for the various underwriting functions. Before Falvey, Mike formerly led the Underwriting function as Chief Underwriting Officer of the Hartford Global Specialty Unit. He joined The Hartford from Navigators as part of the company’s acquisition in May 2019. At Navigators, Michael was the Chief Underwriting Officer of U.S. Insurance with key responsibilities of growth, expense management and profitability of the U.S. Specialty products. Michael joined Navigators in 2004 from Aon where he was Senior Vice President of the Specialty Reinsurance division. He focused on development and servicing of clients engaged in the broader P&C marketplace with heavy emphasis on Marine, Energy, Property, Aviation and other specialty lines of business.
Michael received a B.S. in Finance from Manhattan College.
